It may be a mixed blessing for the people involved, but rest assured that Tennesseans who can file for divorce this way will be glad. Starting in September, Tennesseans who do not have minor children or pension plans will be able to file for divorce with an attorney. The Tennessee Supreme Court adopted a new rule creating the forms for uncontested divorces and making this acceptable in jurisdictions across the state. The catch is that both parties have to agree on the terms of the divorce. The legal language calls this arrangement an "agreed divorce".
